Thing 23 - Final Thoughts on Web 2.0

I enjoyed learning about Web 2.0. I hope to go back to a number of these to use and hope that we will be able to incorporate something in our web site. I hope to use and explore more of: Delicious, Blogger, maybe LibraryThing and some of the "Best of Web 2.0." I am still trying to figure out the usefulness of Twitter. (for me) The only thing I didn't like was all the accounts to keep track of. I can't see any work-around for that. I enjoyed this and probably would participate in another discovery program. The thought of winning a MP3 player is a bonus.

Thing 22 - Podcasts

I subscribed to a podcast about music and the BookTalk podcast. I was worried about this one but actually found it to be quite easy. Again there are a lot of options out there. It was also good to explore the sites for searching for podcasts. I have previously subscribed to podcasts through ITunes but never had time to go back to watch them. So then I unsubscribed, oh well. Maybe someday there will be "time enough." (See Thing 21.) Sometime I'll have to check out the link about creating podcasts.

Thing 21 part 3

I couldn't help myself.

Thing 21 part 2

I also have to share the video of my son playing his rockin guitar.

Thing 21 - YouTube

I've already looked at YouTube. In fact I have an account! Lots of fun videos. I was looking for the classic Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last" with Burgess Meridith as Mr Beamis. (Time for what you might ask?) This is the best that I could come up with.
Libraries could post instructional videos, virtual tours and highlight events on their websites and on YouTube.

Thing #20 - Discovering Web 2.0 tools

I really enjoyed looking at all of the possibilities here. I actually looked at several of these.
I've heard a lot about craigslist and it was listed in the Classifieds and Directories section. Last Friday a patron was in asking for help with craigslist. So I took a look around the site and listings. I think that it is used a lot in metropolitan areas. My son found a job using craigslist. The "best-of-craigslist" link was hillarious.
I bookmarked the Web 2.0 Awards list so that I can go back to it and try some more sites.

Thing 18 - PB Wiki

It was fun to play around with the "FAV" wikis. I added to the restaurants and vacations spots. These also could be used for book reviews and comments about things like library events. So much to consider. I thought the video that showed using a wiki to plan a camping trip was a good example.
